Preliminary Exercise Filming! 20/9/12

Today in our Media lesson, Me and my group (Luke, Jerome, Toby) filmed for the first time our two minute clip, which is based on a person walking into a room and holding a conversation with another person then walking out the room,Bearing in mind we had to use the following..
*Shot/Reverse Shot
*Match On Action
*180 Degree Rule

At first we had some out-takes, Also we reviewed the shots we had taken and then went back to try and improve the shot to the best of our ability, Also another reason is as a group decision we decided to edit some scene's to make them look the best we could.

Continuity

Continuity is making sure you keep every shot the same as before,  making sure your consistent with characteristics, plots, also costumes and places.

Match On Action

Match on action is for example, if a person walked down through a corridor and then went to open a door, a camera can zoom in on the same persons's hand opening the door, it is also a cut or action or even a movement between to certain shots. ( Check out the video below for an example!)

180 Degree Rule!

The 180 Degree rule is used as a filming guideline that participants in a scene should have the same left/right relationship to each other, filming should only take place within the 180 degree angle for example, if two people were holding a conversation the camera would only stay on the left/right side of the people talking.

Shot/Reverse Shot!

For example this means if two people was having a chat facing each other, the camera would take the view of a person listening to the other person speak, usually a view from a persons shoulder.

Brief:Preliminary exercise

Produce a continuity exercise which involves a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom they exchange a couple of lines of dialogue. The Task should demonstrate;

*Match on action!
*Shot/reverse shot!
*180 degree rule!
